She is a graduate psychologist, and a qualified psychoanalyst for individual and group therapy, and is working in her own private practice in Cologne. She is a teaching and controlling psychoanalyst of the DPV/IPA, and is since 2012 a member of the Executive Committee of the EPF (General Editor).
Her scientific interest is mainly focussed on the topic of death and dying in psychoanalysis, on film and literature viewed from a psychoanalytic perspective, and on psychoanalytic training. She considers the international and intercultural exchange as an integral component of psychoanalysis – as psychoanalysis is clinically always dealing with and focussing its thoughts on that which is (in the other and in ourselves) foreign – and as psychoanalysis, beyond that, can only make progress and develop further on the condition of encountering, time and again, that which is foreign, i.e., that which it is not.
