eJournal Privacy Policy

Introduction

The eJournal takes privacy issues seriously and is committed to protecting information that it holds in its database about its members. This policy explains what information the eJournal has in its database about you, how that information is used, to whom it is disclosed and how it is stored and protected. This information is processed by International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA) staff in its central office in London on behalf of the eJournal or on occasion by trusted third parties.
 

What information do we keep about you?

The eJournal maintains in the IPA database your name, society (if any), addresses, languages, telephone numbers and email addresses, together with your society training analyst and child analyst statuses. The eJournal also collects other information about you, which will not be disclosed to others, such as any donations you have made, details of services you have requested from the eJournal, purchase of publications and other such items.

How do we use your information?

The eJournal uses your contact details to communicate with you and to enable you to get the most out of the eJournal services available. For example, the eJournal will use your contact details to distribute information about special programmes, newsletters or publications. It will also allow you to make donations and buy products or other special services offered by the eJournal.
 

To whom is your information disclosed?

Your personal information listed above is held in a password protected area of the eJournal website. Each member and other authorised individuals will have his or her own unique and secure password and may use it to access your information. You can modify parts of this information by going online to the eJournal website and changing the information yourself.

The eJournal may also share your contact details with the supplier of the database (for maintenance purposes). Sharing your information in this way may mean transferring your data outside the European Economic Area. In providing us with your information you consent to any such transfers.

The eJournal will provide an author profile function on its website. Your name, country and bio will be displayed publicly on this function. You will be offered the option of selecting any part of or all of your office contact details held in the IPA database to display through this function. No personal contact data will be displayed unless you choose to allow this.
 

How secure is my information?

The eJournal will ensure that your personal information is stored securely, using sufficient and up-to-date protection measures. On the eJournal website, your personal contact details will be located in a password-protected section of the site.
 

Web beacons

Emails you receive from the eJournal sometimes use web beacons to compile information about your interaction with such emails. (A web beacon is an electronic image, called a single-pixel, web bug, tracking bug, tracking pixel, pixel tag or clear GIF). Web beacons can recognize certain types of information on your computer such as the time and date of a page viewed, and a description of the folder where the email is stored.

You may be able to disable web beacons in email messages by not downloading images contained in the message you receive. (This feature varies depending on the email software used on your personal computer). However, this may not always disable a web beacon or other automatic data collection tools in the email message due to specific email software capabilities. If you receive emails or newsletters from the eJournal we may automatically collect personal information about you. For example, through web beacons and personalized URLs embedded in these emails or newsletters, the eJournal can track whether you’ve opened those messages and whether you’ve clicked on links contained within those messages. Embedded web links

Emails from the eJournal often use links designed to lead you to a relevant area on the eJournal website. This system allows the eJournal to determine the effectiveness of our various initiatives and campaigns.

In emails, such web links may also allow the eJournal to determine whether you have clicked a link in an email, and this information about the interaction may be connected to your personal data in the eJournal database. If you do not want the eJournal to collect information about the links that you select, you can choose not to click any links in an email that the eJournal sends.
 

Changes to the Privacy Policy

Any changes made to this Policy will be posted on this website. We may alert you to such changes and ask you to review them from time to time. Changes to the Policy will be dated below.
